After completing his A levels, Alex enlisted in the 10th Battalion of the Parachute Regiment, a Territorial Army unit where he spent 3 years as a recruit. During this period he worked as a television and film extra appearing in films such as Sliding Doors and Judge Dredd. He also landed a role as Tom Hank’s body double in Saving Private Ryan.

Having won a contract with Storm Modelling Agency, Alex continued to appear on TV shows including Gladiators before enrolling with the Guildford School of Drama to develop his acting skills. This led to a part in Hollyoaks, where he played the role of Jason Cunliffe.

In tandem with his acting and media career, Alex has established himself as the most recognised fighter in the UK MMA scene. In his most recent contest against Tom Watson, Alex narrowly lost out on the World Title but gained record viewing figures and was widely hailed for taking part in the best fight ever witnessed on these shores.

Alex captured the public’s imagination by winning Celebrity Big Brother in January 2010 with a landslide 65% of the public vote. Since then he has regularly featured in the UK press and he has appeared on numerous TV shows as a celebrity guest. His appearances on prime time TV include Shooting Stars, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Alan Carr’s Chatty Man etc. His own reality shows include Alex Reid ‘The Fight of His Life’ and I Am Alex Reid.

Currently Alex is focusing on his acting and TV career but remains a dedicated professional fighter with an MMA title fight scheduled for August to be aired over Prime Time. Building on his expertise as a professional athlete Alex is also spearheading a number of business ventures in the health and fitness sector. These include the launch of a flagship gym with an MMA based training programme called the Alex Reid Academy. Having partnered with the Energie Group, Alex is planning to roll out a franchise of MMA training and fitness programmes in the UK before targeting an international footprint.
