Peter Reid
With a career that spans more than twenty years and includes being a football speaker, player and manager Peter Reid is arguably one of the most versatile men in the British footballing industry; with time spent at Bolton, Everton and Manchester City Reid can boast a plethora of footballing achievements including appearing in two World Cups, winning the FA Cup with Everton in 1984 and winning the Football League First Division trophy as manager of Sunderland in both 1996 and 1999.
In his second retirement, his first for a brief period in the 1990’s until he was convinced to resume his playing career for Southampton in 1993 Peter Reid continues to work as both a football speaker and manager. His managerial career has had its ups and downs and seen him take charge of Sunderland, Leeds United and the England under 21’s.
His career as a football speaker and player was far more successful however, his talents and achievements such that he was named PFA Players’ Player of the Year in 1985 and fourth in the World Soccer Player of the Year award in the same year.
Now just shy of sixty Peter Reid continues to work as a sports speaker, providing commentary and punditry for the BBC. He was chosen for the BBC’s coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup and has also worked as a sports speaker for both Sky Sports and ESPN.
